Type
1 Surveys: Location and assessment survey (presumptive
survey). To locate, as far as reasonably practical,
any suspected ACMs and assess the risk.
Type
2 Surveys: Representative sampling/analysis to
identify ACMs. Same as the Type 1 survey, but samples
are collected and analysed in order to confirm or negate
the presence of asbestos. A Material Assessment Register
is then created.
Type
3 Surveys: Full access sampling and identification
survey (pre-demolition or major refurbishment survey).
This survey may involve destructive inspection
to gain access to all areas of the building to locate
and describe all potential ACMs in the building. This
survey is a basis for tendering the removal of ACMs before
demolition or major refurbishment.
